Red gram dal (Kerala van payar thoran)
- Red gram dal – 2 cups
- Onion(chopped) – 1/4 cup
- Coconut( grated) – 1/2 cup
- Green Chilli – 2 or 3
- Garlic(crushed) – 1
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds(powdered) – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
- Curry Leaves – 1 stalk
- Salt as required
Directions ::..
1.Cook the Red gram dal with water separately in a pressure cooker.
2. Mix the cooked Red gram dal with all the other ingredients. Heat oil in the pan and add mustard seeds. Once it splutters add all the ingredients to it. Keep the pan covered and cook in a low flame till it is cooked.
3. Serve it hot with rice or hot porridge,pappadam and mango pickle.
